Climate-neutral manufacturing processes are an important goal for Vitesco Technologies. Achieving this throughout the company’s worldwide factories is part of the enacted roadmap towards CO2 neutrality in the year 2030. This is pushed forward with four detailed initiatives running in parallel. Firstly, already since the year 2020, Vitesco Technologies is only using electricity from proven regenerative sources (green electricity) in all of its factories. Since June of 2021, the company is also an official member of the initiative Renewable 100 (RE100). Secondly, efficiency programs serve to further reduce the energy consumption of the factories. This is mainly achieved through avoiding energy losses, by retrofitting existing facilities, and by defining highly ambitious target values for purchasing new production facilities and infrastructure. In addition to sourcing green electricity, a third initiative focuses on generating green electricity in-house wherever possible. To achieve that photovoltaics are installed on roofs, on free areas and parking lots. Heat storage, geothermal heat and heat pumps are part of heating and cooling concepts for buildings. Finally initiative number four aims at designing new buildings and new locations from early on to meet the strictest energy standards. Combined with utilizing renewable energy, new buildings therefore have only minimal CO2 emissions over their complete life cycle.
