Connectivity in energy management saves fuel
One major challenge in a vehicle drivetrain is using the thermal, mechanical, and electrical energy in the vehicle as efficiently and precisely as possible under highly complex requirements. Energy management relies on the technologies of the optimized powertrain: as well as the traditional combustion engine and transmission, these include electrification and, in particular, hybridization. Networking of the drivetrain with information from external sources such as other vehicles or the cloud offers the end customer significant added value in terms of reduced consumption. For as long as it is running, the combustion engine is operated at a higher level of efficiency and switched off as often as possible in a hybrid strategy.
