    Smart power electronics play a vital role and have a broad range of applications in modern electric vehicles. This includes the battery charging process, conversion of the voltage level necessary to power different components or the motor powered by the inverter among others. Therefore, smart power electronics enable fast but considerate charging of the battery or increase the overall electric drive efficiency.

    To achieve these features, new materials are exploited. Especially, for high power dense and fast switching applications, wide bandgap materials like SiC, GaN, GaO or diamond and combinations of them are currently investigated within the market for future power electronics to provide affordable and highly efficient electric vehicles.

    Vitesco Technologies is already using new technologies and materials to provide innovative and smart products (e.g. HV/LV DC/DC and high-power inverters) for their customers.
